Tattoo Friday

Today I went for my 3rd session on my sleeve with Dave Bewick (Black Crown, Leeds), I'm delighted with how its going and looking so far, aside from being a wee bit sore, I thought to post a few progress photos. ( Ignore kitty scratches!)

Picked upa Hershey bar today, intrigued about them, I'm a sucker for American candies etc, although Apollo seems like he's claimed it for himself. Tsk

Shoot with Vix Tuff Pix & Laura Angel MUA

I was so excited to be finally shooting with Vicky Tuff, I've been practically drooling over her recent sets based on Pet Names for quite some time featuring some amazing MUA and concepts, so when I was asked to be her ' Cow' so to speak, I jumped at the opportunity! Our MUA for the shoot was a beautifully talented Laura Angel, we had the chance to not only shoot the 'Cow' shoot but to have a play with some colour, blue appropriately in this case. I'm in love with the results from both sets.

Trip home!

This weekend just gone, a rare weekend off, I decided to retreat from Leeds for the weekend and head home to see my folks, not to mention take advantage of free central heating and food. While there, we took a trip to Cleethorpes ( dated seaside town on the Humber coast for those who've never been ) for a wander about the shops, particularly the charity/antique shops. One of the things I enjoy most about visiting home is having a browse in these shops, as they seem to be so a lot cheaper compared to Leeds charity shops, here's a few bits I purchased while there, notice the running theme..

Jealous Apollo?

Only room for one cat in this household apparently..

Sneaky peek at a fantastic costume find I stumbled upon, something I've been looking for ages for an upcoming routine!

Shoot with Oyster Zepplin

While in Dublin, the day after the show, Adelina Le Shay, Mimi Demure & myself ( Em Brulee wasn't able to make the shoot!) had the opportunity to shoot with Dublin based photographer Oyster Zepplin, as this was a studio based shoot I decided to bring my Fortune Telling Machine costume to get some photographs done for when the act is complete and ready to perform live. It was a fast paced shoot, was great to get a few group shots of us performers together (unfortuantly missing one Em Brulee), a gorgeous memento of a fantastic weekend, again again again!

Dublin!

So, my first out of England based burlesque performance, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to not only go perform at The Burlesque & Cabaret Social Club, The Sugar Club, Dublin, but to spend the weekend in the company of a set of frustratingly beautiful & talented ladies ( I use the term 'ladies' lightly, all hailing from Yorkshire of course ) Adelina Le Shay, Mimi Demure & my favourite pair of  lungs Em Brulee.

The initial start of the trip was a little rough due to suffering  for the previous few days leading up to our departure with a rubbish flu, yet once curled up in bed in our what would be residence for the duration of our stay ( Adelina's brothers flat, what a darling for putting up with loud, feather scattering women!) in the company of my bunk-buddy Mimi Demure (late night gossips anyone? check! stories of teenage romance? check!) I was soon feeling back on form on the morning of the show.

After a wonder around the lovely little town of Blackrock and scoffing on the sunny balcony of the flat, we headed off to Dublin to prepare for the show. I'd never performed at The Sugar Club before and I'd heard wonderful things about it, I was completely smitten the second we walked in!

The show itself was fantastic, great audience, fantastic variation of performers & bands, so well organised I luckily had the chance to catch most of the other acts & performances. After curtain call we were able to indulge in a spot of dancing, and we sooned coined the idea of using 90s dance crazes to 1930s charleston-esque music, ridiculous as it sounds, it works, and talk about a work out! Luckily (yeah right) this moment was caught on camera for all to see, maybe I should pop it on my showreel? Maybe not..

Below, some of my favourite shots from the night featuring my Dog Faced Girl act & my Hoochie Cooch act (featuring my upcoming Fortune Telling Machine costume), all images are from Hector Heathwood unless stated.

First post!

I'm trying to write this post without making it sound like introducing myself on the first day of school, in this case to a half empty classroom,  I've started this blog to chronicle my adventures & ramblings, my burlesque performances being at the center, my design & illustration based work alongside, although I am tempted to just constantly post pictures of my cat, either way I hope it'll be insightful for me as much as anyone reading my ramblings.
